Hello. Is there a way to use an Epson Claria black ink cartridge with 5 non OEM cartidges in the Epson 1400? I want to print black only with this printer. If this cannot be done, who makes the best third party dye ink for the 1400. I am concerned with longevity of the prints. Does not have to be 100 years though. :) Thank you very much.

I have refiilable cartridges with auto reset chip, these must be used all together, no mixing recommended, otherwise the resetting would not work.
Quality ink to replace claria is available by IS "image sprecialists", but only for refilling.

I use pigment ink in my Epson 1400 and the results are remarkable good (except on glossy paper, because of the gloss differential/bronzing). I use satin and semi gloss paper to get the best results.

Hello. I did get around the auto reset chip issue by using a chip resetter. So now I can a Epson Claria black ink cartridge with non OEM ink cartridges in the printer. I am going to try "image sprecialists" ink soon. Thanks again.
