MP150 service manual http://ubuntuone.com/74xJ2Pa7L5pPRzsxVtYCc8
MP160 service reference manual (Differences from the base model, PIXMA MP150, only) http://www.gondack.com.ar/media/useruploads/files/qy8-13ay-010_mp160_referencemanual[1].pdf

In MP150 service manual see page 12 for Service pattern print and EEPROM print; see Appendix 1 and 2 in MP160 for interpretation.

Be careful not to change any other settings.

With the printer powered off but connected to a power source, press the Power button while pressing and holding
the Stop/ Reset button.
2) When the Power LED is lit, press the Stop/Reset button two times while pressing and holding the Power button.
3) When releasing the Power button and the Stop / Reset bu tton (regardless of order), the printer will move into a
service mode. (Waiting for menu selection)
4) When the LED lights in green, press the Stop/Reset button 2 times.(Each time the Stop/ Reset button is pressed, the LED lights alternately in
orange and green, starting with orange.)
Patten containing all information will be printed.

Hi sofiaparrales

Please be aware, that the service mode procedure in the service manual for the MP150 and the instructions from jkhes both miss a very important step 5. This missing step 5 should read:

5) After the function (menu) is selected, press the Power button. The LED lights in green, and the selected function is performed. (When the operation completes, the printer returns to the menu selection mode automatically.)

For more information see my post, linked to by gigigogu. If you are not sure about the service mode operations, then don't enter service mode. You may regret an error made in service mode, and there is no undo function, if you accidentally erase information.

If this is unclear, please post again and I will try to explain the service mode operations in other words/more detail.

Hi gigigogu. I think the manuals should also be posted in the service manuals thread. Others might also find them useful :)

Hi jkhes. From which manual did you get the procedure? It looks like not only manuals for PGI-5/CLI-8 printers have this error, but also other manuals written in 2005 or 2006

Peter.
