I've been trying to fix my canon pixma mx416..., 'getting an error - something to do with the waste ink pad. I have no luck trying with some tools i have here(resetter tool from other canon models) to reset the waste ink counter. If anybody has a better idea to fix it up, 'really appreciate it. ERROR CODE: 5B00

tnx in advance and more power. :)

To do a reset of the ink absorber counter (D-value) you will first have to get your printer into service mode. The procedure for entering service mode is not the same for all printers. See the service manual if you can find one.

After having entered service mode, you will have to run a suitable service tool. Some versions of the service tool only supports 32 bit Windows, newer versions support both 32 bit and 64 bit Windows.

Not all printers are supported by the versions of the service tool that can be found, it looks like newer versions support more printers.

For more information see this (lengthy) thread: http://www.nifty-stuff.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=7416

Remember that resetting a counter doesn't make the ink disappear. You might get away with resetting the counter just once and continue printing, but you risk a nasty ink spill if the absorbers overflow. It is highly recommended to change or clean the absorbers, when resetting the counter.
