Hi There
We've had our Canon MP830 for 2 years now, but for the last year or so, every time we print from any computer, there is a black vertical line (running from top to bottom) down the reverse oside of each sheet of paper!!!
I've tried all the maintenance/cleaning options but they haven't fixed the problem and we don't use refills ...........

Any ideas why this happens & how we can fix it ?????????

Sounds like you probably have ink on the rollers...

Getting rid of that ink should be relatively simple (ie: just running paper through to draw the ink out).

However your real problem is figuring out how that ink is getting on the rollers in the first place.... Couple of things to look for:
- Cartridges: Look for one or more that are emptying quickly (could be a poorly sealed refill hole or a leak allowing ink to just flow freely)
- Printhead: Look for ink soiling the bottom of the printhead (could be large drops indicating the problem is with the cartridges)
- Rubber grommets/washers: Check that one isn't missing or damaged. This could allow a free flow also or pooling effect.

Also worth checking that the head cleaning/purge unit pad area isn't clogged or soiled as this may be pulling ink out and then soiling the bottom of the printhead.. If so, a cleaning solution to dissolve any clogging should help.
