got a weird one here re my MP980.

i keep getting a small magenta ink drop at the very bottom or each page. happens for photos, text, nozzle checks, rear feed, front feed.

have tried:
- bottom plate cleaning
- roller cleaning
- Cleaning all colors - print head
- print head alignment
- manually cleaned physical carts and print head
- manually cleaned inside of printer, rollers, while spinning

my magenta was leaking a bit inside the print head a bit, cleaned that up and put in new magenta

and... still getting that annoying drop at very bottom of page

see pic w most recent nozzle check ans other sheets underneath

any ideas what to try next ?

thx

J

Based on the position, I would GUESS it is not roller related but along the same vein, your waste ink pad might be getting full though.
The droplet is getting on the sheet when it exits and drops down onto the receiving tray. When the waste ink pad is getting full, the ink will naturally start creeping up and it is possibly present just where the paper drops. Take the sheet, put it into the printer where the sheet would be positioned and drop is located. Now take your finger or a white paper towel and probe that area on the printer for ink. You will possibly find something there.

Depending on how long the magenta was leaking and how much dripped out, the waste ink pad could be holding that and would not signal a waste ink pad full though it would be because a pool of magenta was being pushed into the pad at each startup when there should not be a pool but a tiny fraction of that.

good call, looks like the leaking magenta cart left a pool of ink inside.

i could not find the pool by reaching in, but noticed that it was getting slightly smaller each nozzle check.

so i printed 20 blank pages several times. took a few rounds but finally got smaller, then it disappeared

thx again
