Greetings,

After removing the purge unit from our Canon S750 (which was flashing the purge unit error), turning the purge unit upside down, and removing the bottom cover from the ink pump, one of the lid gaskets was found all scrunched up in the corner (see below).

It apparently came off the previously-mentioned lid (see also below). Question is, what will keep it from coming off again? Glue?

Good job accessing the purge pump. Not many realize it's easy to get the the pump internals.

A couple well-placed drops of superglue should do. Do the other "gasket" as well. Actually it a running surface for the peristalic tubing. Good time to wash it all out, too.

Wayne,

The ink drain tubes look a bit gummy at their open ends. I'm tempted to un-clip & lift out the drum, remove the ink tubes, & clean them out. Is that risky? For example, are the drum springs going to shoot pieces off once removed from the housing? Since one tube is black and the other is clear, I suspect one side may not have been pumping any ink.

I never have a problem lifting out the internals of my i960's and MP730 purge pumps without any loose parts flying about, but they are built slightly different than yours, as the halves of my pump casing clip together rather than screw together...your milage may vary. The internals look really similar though, and it doesn't seem to matter if the gearing alignment at re-assembly is critical, either.

Try washing out the tubes with windex from a syringe, instead (over layers of waste paper)?
