The magenta on my i865 stopped working the other day so I cleaned out the cartridge because I had finished all the old ink I had and changed to a new ink, job done worked fine.

Then the yellow done the same, I repeated the procedure with that no problem.
Next the blue took a sickie now I had one spare cartridge left from the old ink and pop that in. Did that work, not on your life tried everything not a drop came out.

Used all of the expertise that this forum had taught and still nothing. Time to clean the printhead; it was over 18 months since its last bath.

Done that and started to put the cartridges back in one by one and then it hit me, the blue cartridge was the wrong one.

The i865 takes CLI-6 and I had put in a CLI- 8 chipped by mistake. Same size same shape but with a big 8C on the top and all I could see was the colour of the ink.

Now I have separate boxes for all my cartridges (about 50), moral of this story. When all else fails read the Feckin instructions..

I have a similar problem................but with CD printing trays............I have 3 sorts , B , C , and F. used on 4000, 4200, 5200 and MP600, and they are not all interchangeable

You put the wrong one in and you get all sorts of alarming messages........and the tray being literally "spat" out !.....but NOT the message " you have put the wrong tray in !".

But the relief you get when you realise just what an idiot you have been , and there is nothing seriously wrong , make it worth the hassle.

The trays are all kept in the same drawer when not in use , I have now written the printer model on the cardboard sleeves as a precaution............but I still get it wrong from time to time...........

Epson, Canon, HP... A "few"
Oh thank $deity I'm not alone...

I recently had my MP830 home built CIS hitting problems with the Pigment black so I pulled the cartridges out, reprimed the black... realised there was a potential flow issue so I installed a new cartridge and then installed all the cartridges again.

... it was at this point that I saw the reservoir bag (yes, using a bag on this homebrew kit) had the indicator up, showing that the ruddy bag had run out of ink...

Needless to say the ruddy printhead is having issues with the Cyan and Yellow now because I needlessly removed them and borked my entire CIS setup...

Add kick self time... *sigh*
