Epson sc p700 paper may remain in printer

Hi everyone,
I'm new here and looking for some technical support.
I am a retired teacher and have recently got back into doing art work. Fortunately it seems to be popular and people want prints of the work.
I was able to buy an Epson scP700 from a well known auction site at a very reasonable price. It came with the info that there was an issue needing to be solved (hence the low price).
On the touch panel the info it states is...
"Paper may remain in the printer, press ok and check the paper slot and remove the paper"
I have done this and could see no paper (even small pieces) anywhere in the machine.
If anyone can help me with this I would be so very grateful
