I originally set up my Epson R1900 with a CISS from Inkjetfly and it worked perfectly specially after creating some icc profiles for all my favorite papers with the colormunki.
However I always thought that the gloss optimizer included was not as glossy as claimed by Epson. Well,,, that was because what Epson had claimed all along was absolutely true. My CISS chips when to hell on a hand basket and I was forced to remove it and so I installed the OEM set of inks the printer had come with.
I printed a small test print on Epson Premium Glossy, making sure that the gloss was on full. Results showed zero gloss differential between the print border and the image which was never the case with the inkjetfly inks for the R1900. I guess there is something to be said about OEM inks. Regardless, they are still not affordable.
Now for my question. Is there any source out there who might possibly sell 3rd party GLOP for the R1900 that even approaches the qualities of the OEM GLOP? Is there such a thing?
Inkjetfly does report that their gloss if lower than OEM. So far I've tried two sources but they seem about the same in the level of glossiness. I was able to produce glossy prints that almost looked as vibrant as printed on a dye based printer.
I suppose I'll just have to stick to matte papers or at the most semigloss.
Thanks in advance
