I have a problem that only effects the Light Magenta on my Epson 3800 printer.

On doing a 'nozzle check' print out, the density of the 'Light Magenta' ink is semi faint. I can only get a strong flow of normal colour after a 'Power Clean' in the printer menu.

A normal 'Head Clean' from within the Epson printer driver software will not achieve the desired flow of ink.

I use the latest version refillable carts supplied by InkJetFly and use Image Specialists ink. I have just replaced the LM cart with a new one but this did not cure the problem.

Can any one help with this or shed some light on what the problem may be.

Hello,

Did you primed the cartridge before installing into the printer ? You must take care that the two buffer compartments are filled like this:

Before priming these two compartments are filled with air, like this:

The priming hole with plug is here:

Hi pharmacist, thank you for your reply

I did prime the cartridge before installing it, air in the system does not seem to be the problem. I've been using the refillable carts for about a year. The only odd thing was I had to crank up the

Magenta in the print profile to get good colour balance. Other wise no problems. It wasn't until recently I did my first 'power clean' that I noticed the Light Magenta flowed better than normal

and I had to turn down the amount of Magenta used in the print profile to a lower level. i.e from +25 to +3

After doing a 'power clean' I get a better flow from the L/Magenta and get great results for a whole print session. After the printer has sat over night I then have to do another 'power clean' to get the

L/Magenta to fully flow again.

I'm wondering if I've had some sludgy ink?. When I flushed out the old cartridge that was replaced, there is a small patch of ink in there that is stuck to the side and does not want to come out.

I don't know if you can see the problem, I've included an image of the 'nozzle check' results below .......
