I have started to see odd black ink marks along the print border.

Epson 3800 printer.

I have done several head cleaning cycles, as well as head alignment.

Also cleaned some of the internal parts via Jose Rodriguez great recommendations

That looks very like your matte/photo black switch leaking...

Yes, there is, and you have seeing the evidence yourself, when you have that much black ink leaking onto the surface of your print, there is only one thing that causes that to happen, the switch valve system has failed...

I just purchased the ink selector valve for my 3800 & R3000 after having the same issue. The easiest/less messy way to approach this is to replace the whole damper unit, but is also more expensive.
