Greetings all!

Just to say I am glad I've found this forum.

This is my first post, though please be merciful...

Anyway...

My printer is Pixma MG 5350

I've been reading a lot recently on this forum and elsewhere about both German Durchstich and Top filling methods.

I've also noticed that majority of folk recommend using the OEM cartridges, or perhaps using a set of transparent 520/521 cartridges and than swapping the chips.

But, what I've come across recently is a set of transparent 525/526 aftermarket transparent cartridges with "auto reset chips"

cityinkexpress.co.uk/cheap-printer-cartridges/canon/pixma-mg5350/mg-series/refillable/empty/multipack

and

octopus-office.de/en/shop/details/c/refillable-ink-cartridges-canon/p/refillable-ink-cartridges-for-canon-pgi-525-cli-526-with-auto-reset-chip

The question is whether any of you has had any experience with such cartridges. What is your opinion...

I would be grateful for your opinion...

Thanks in anticipation.

Regards...

Firstly welcome Jakobsky
Your first two observations are correct in that we do recommend refilling only OEMs
with the top fill and German methods, now onto your but.. question.

Most guys have in the past used compatible refill cartridges at one time or another and realised some sooner
than others that these cartridges were causing some problems in their printers both minor and major.

So they like you came here to find out what was causing most of their problems and to find a fix them quickly
and were introduced to the idea of only using OEMs cartridge for refilling.

We on here are not against compatibles refillable cartridges its just that OEMs are that much better
for refilling again and again and are able to eliminate most of the problems associated with refilling.

Compatible cartridges do work and as to how well or for how long is questionable
but they can only be refilled using the top filling method properly.

Lets be fair here the compatible cartridges are easier to refill than OEMs and thats their only claim to fame,
they leak easier brake up easier they block up easier and in a short space of time will eventually
starve the print head of ink which can cause a whole lot of other problems.

Auto reset chips are indeed a great asset to some refillers but only when monitored, understood and used correctly
and we on Nifty recommend the use of a resetter where possible (When available) as a better alternative to the use ARCs.

Compatible cartridges are very good to use when they come prefilled with their own ink as a cheap and reliable alternative to refilling
because there used only once and then discarded but OEM cartridges on the other hand
can be refilled and relied upon to work like new every time indefinitely.

Its probably not the information you wanted to hear but dont be put off by it,
now you know more about refilling cartridges than before so can make a better decision as to which way you want to proceed
with your own refilling and make the right choices hopefully..

Hello there!

Thanks ever so much for taking time to respond to my question.

That's the thing, that I may have read a lot about refiling methods but I don't have any experience yet. That is why all your comments are so important.

I am currently waiting to hear from OCP distributor in the UK, and once I've gathered all the "utensils" and a pair of spare pants...
I shall attempt my first refill.

Once again, thank you.

To Be Continued...
