And I remember they promised back in 2007 that the price will be same as any A4 inkjet printer, that is 400$ max, it turns out the price has more than doubled but from that article it seems ink is very unstable. Just look how it runs under tap water, no surprises there if the ink would be like regular DYE ink worse like PIGMENT ink then the head would dye up in an instant.

I wonder how do they clean the head? There must be a wiper that moves on the bottom to clean it periodically so the unused nozzles would not get clogged. It is a shame we obviously cant refill this machine with any ink we already have, if it will be unpopular nobody will make ink for it so that means dead end.

I hope it will not happen but for that price I rather buy some piezo technology printer, even second hand will do as you can unclog them.

Just to note there's a lot of legal wranglings going on re: Memjet tech with all sorts of accusations flying around...

It's looking a lot like it was one of those "Works while we were there to tweak it... but isn't real world applicable" type deals... Could change in the future but only with a LOT more investment (read: billions).
