I have a Samsung SCX 1530 i live in Korea so it's a Korean printer.
It has a black and white and a color cartridge and I bought a new black and white cartridge for it. (didn't know i could refil it). Anyway it won't print and the korean messege mentions that the color cartridge is empty. I tried printing with only the blacka and white cartridge in but no go.

Question: Do i 'need' to have both cartridge in and filled for the printer to print even when i only want to print in black and white?

2nd question: i sometimes get the messege that the paper tray is empty even though it isn't. I jiggle the tray etc but no change in the messege.

I would appreciate any input. Thank's.

Go to the properties for your printer and see if you can reset the ink level.

Check your manual right after install ink cartridges.
You should find something that can help you.

For some printers, you need to have both ink cartridge placed in the printer even if you are printing only in black. But it does not have to be that both ink cartridge be filled full. Try removing and replacing back the ink cartridges and resetting your printer. Check the settings and try test print first.
