Your printer knows that you put the same cartridge back into it. Your printer can remember the last 2 cartridges that you use, so in the future, save 2 of your old empties. After re-filling, pop in one of the old ones. 1 minute later, put in the 2nd old one. Now, remove the 2nd one and put in the refill. Your printer will then reset your ink level back to full.
There could also be either a scratch or ding or somthing of the sort on the contacts of the cartridge or the printer so I would take a cue tip and rub both the cartridge contacts or the printer pins. When I have that problem this usually corrects it.
