i have managed to get a MP560 and MP640 for a very nice price and was getting ready to switch to one of them from my 4200, however i have just heard that there may be some issues with the resetters for the cli-220 and 221 cartridges. does any one have any experience with these cartridges yet and how about printing to cd/dvds with the 640

hmmmm no answers, another issue i have heard and needs to be confimed is that there is very little clearance above the cartridges and the case so if you use the top fill method the rubber plugs will prevent the print head from returning to it's parked position. any experience with these printers

I've only used the german method of refilling so I can't comment on the plugs.

The resetter that I bought from refillbay.com has been working fine so far with my CLI-221 and PGBK-220 cartridges.

I top fill cartridges at work since I don't want long pointy needles there and yes the plugs must sit absolutely flat on the 560, but it can be done or if you use specifically made refillable carts the plugs are recessed so it's flat.

so to use original canon cartridges a small area of the case would have to be modified with a die grinder or similar tool, thanks for the information

Or you can fill using the German method from the side. You don't need to use pointy needles, I use a blunt needle (the one included with the Hobbicolors refill kit) and it works fine in both CLI221 and CLI-8 cartridges.

I use the top fill method on a lot of my OEM cartridges and reseal the hole with a drop of hot wax on the drill hole and have had no problems with the print head clearance.. ;)

interesting using the wax, do you have any of the wax getting into the reservoir when you scrape it off

Sometimes I cant get all of the glue out of the hole and it drops into the reservoir.
There could be a half dozen little bits in some of my cartridges.. :/
