Service tool 5204.
You can find it on eBay for a few bucks, you have to register for 1 PC.
Will give a false virus warning (triggered by the hack code), set your antivirus software accordingly.

Success and report back so others can learn.

Question:- Why would you need a reset this early in your printers life..:hide
I have been printing with the PRO 10 for 4 1/2 years. I plan on rerouting the waste ink tubes and hopefully resetting
the counter. However, the service tool mentioned above (5204) does not list the Pixma Pro 10. Or am I missing its' listing?

Nothing is guaranteed, the sources of the tool are vague and changing, but it has been reported on this forum - among others by myself - that it does work. I also was able to reset the Canon Maxify, a printer launched several years after the PRO-10.
We try to inform.
If it was easy and without risk everybody would refill...

Your having reset your Pro 10 is all I needed to hear. Now that the replacement for the Pro 10 is almost the cost of buying a Pro 1000, I cannot afford to lose my primary source of printed joy and occasional income. Hence, my need to reroute the waste ink. I have never opened a Canon printer, so this feels like a pressure cooker event.

Prior to 2016, I used Epson Artisan series printers which led me to stepping up to the Canon. It is an impressive device. The Epson I could tear down and reassemble, but here...so many, heated issues.

Thank you so much for the right directions. Harold

Maybe this will help, it's not the Pro 10 but close..

I wish I could report that I was more intelligent. Having registered the 5204 tool, I learned I locked the EEPROM earlier by stupidly trusting a 5103 tool. This was not long ago, before I had the social will to ask for help in a public forum. (I am a younger, retired inorganic chemist and until now did not participate in any social media).

In the academic setting, email correspondence and a telephone call was everything. Clearly this is not enough today.
I am only mildly versed in electronics, so the crazy question becomes:

Does upgrading the firmware to the PRO10 unlock the EEPROM to changes useful to the 5204 tool?
