If the print head is let return to its park position then it should keep for some time.
But a couple of drops of Windex on it would definitely help..

good point ! i had forgotten it would be parked over the pads

sounds like the print head would probably be OK if an ink cart was pulled for 12+ hours every few weeks.

any more thoughts ???

It is unlikely that this would be a problem. But if you are concerned why not have a second set of carts ready so she can just replace the empty one, and then bring the empty one to you for refilling.

We now carry Virgin Empty OEM Canon cli-221 carts so you can get a second set for very little and we have the orange trays on close out because they have to be retrofit for the cli-221. It is an easy thing to do, just cutting away some of the plastic that slides over the tongue of the cart, but we don't have the time to do it for the little price we sell them.

You can have a look at these two links for the extra set of virgin carts:

And the orange trays are here:

Hope this is helpful.

Best always,

Jimbo - isn't this the same question you asked in http://www.nifty-stuff.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=6061 ? Again, I'd say that an extra set of carts avoids the potential for the ink on the intake screens to dry up in the 12 hour interval between removal, refilling, and replacement. The pads when the printhead is parked would protect the nozzles from drying out, but the intake area that contacts the outlet port of the carts would be subject to drying up. Why take a chance????????
