Canon Pixma MX340 all in one

I have a new Canon Pixma MX340 and like it fine. It works well with non-OEM ink. My question is this. After everything it prints it is doing something and it does it so quickly that I can't remove the paper and reinsert it to print something else on it before it does it. What the heck is it doing?? I didn't see anything in the manual about it. I'm hoping someone will know and more importantly whether there is a way to lengthen the time before it does it.
