- Canon Pixma iP8720
I have a Canon Pixma IP8720 inkjet printer that is probably about five years old and it has served me VERY well; printing documents, photos and many inkjet compatible discs. Unlike a lot of folks I even got it connected to our home network via an old Apple AirPort Express and had no trouble printing to it "wirelessly" three floors up from where it is located.
I'm writing because recently — out of the blue — the printer stopped printing; flashing between the white and amber light in a series of 12. I discovered that several of the ink cartridges were empty, so I replaced them. Nothing. Still the same blinking light sequence. I did a "hard" restart. Nothing. I did a "soft" restart. Nothing. I replaced ALL the ink cartridges with new cartridges. Nothing — including, no lights in the cartridge trough indicating a new cartridge, which was odd because that has also never happened before… I made certain that there was nothing lingering in the print que on any of the computers that use the printer. And by the way, all three printers could still "see" the printer and the printer utility on each machine could see full ink levels, but none of the computers could run any kind of cleaning or diagnostics. Any attempts to try and print met with an error code 6872A indicating a paper jam. There was NO paper jam. And the lights continue to flash in an white and orange sequence.
I'm at a loss here. Ten seconds away from scrapping this printer to anyone who needs the parts or thinks they can breathe some life back into it. And then I came across this forum and thought I'd give it a shot before I asked someone on Craig's list to take this $200 printer off my hands for $25 (or BO).
