Canon IP5200
Hi all.

First time poster here. I am very close to throwing away my faithful Canon Pixma IP5200r inkjet as it has been giving me some trouble recently. I hate the thought of it ending up on my local recycling centre for lots of reasons so I thought I would see if there is anything more I can do do save it :)

A few months ago now it stopped half way through a print with the page only part way through the feeder. It give some type of error message on my laptop and LED light was blinking an error too. I can't recall what. The page was properly stuck and wouldn't move easily so I forcibly pulled the page out of the printer. Probably not the best thing to do but its what I did. Ever since then the orange alarm light is flashing 5 times which I figured out was a printer head error. OK I thought, I've wrecked the print head. I bought a refurbished one of eBay and replaced it but its doing the same thing with it too.

Printer still turns on. Every now and then it will turn on and and behave let me print a page or 2 before the alarm light gives the same 5 flashing error message.

I have had it since 2013 and its been pretty reliable so far. I used it for a mix of everything but mostly black and white text and the odd colour page for kiddies school work.
Have been using third party inks the last few years with no issues.

I suspect the refurbed PH from ebay maybe suspect so my next thought was to source another print head but that would mean I've spent half the price of a new printer with no guarantee it's going to work.

Any advice? Thanks in advance!!!

Cheers,
Boyd
