My printer prints pefectly except for one thing: part of the magenta output is not working - in a very repetitive way. In the built-in service test print, everything is flawless except that the lower half of the magenta 'grid' lacks several lines in a 100% regular pattern. The attachted image of the bad part in the test print says it all.
The normal nozzle test pattern (via pc) looks like this:
In printed photo's, this problem results in banding that is 100% repetitive - print two photo's and the bands occur over the entire width on exactly the same plce. I've seen several threads on this site discussing the subject, but I wonder if there is any consensus on remedies. Is the head dead?
I tried (with no luck)
- cleaning the contacts on the back of the print head and the opposite pins on the print head holder
- taking out and reinserting all connectors on the printboard, including the ribbon connectors that go to the printhead
I didn't try cleaning the head by soaking or anything as there are no signs of any clogging of the head.
I don't mind buying a new print head, but hope to minimize the risk of investing in the wrong remedy. Thanks from the Netherlands
