I have a question about the cartridges that come in the box with Canon printers. I bought a Canon MG6150 and the salesrep told me that the cartridges are about half full. Is this true? I cannot check as they are opaque. The printer's ink level monitoring indicates that the cartridges are full, though. Are the cartridges in fact half full and do they use special chips or did the sales person not know his business?

I bought refill ink and a chipresetter. Can I refill these cartridges or should I buy a new set?

The weight of the cartridges is about 20 grams and 34 grams (scale with d=2).

Every time I bought a printer the salesman told me that "the cartridges included are good only for a few prints, just to see how the printer works". They were wrong every time. The cartridges were full and with the exact same amount of ink as the cartridges they sold separately. Every time...

I am refilling/resetting the cartridges that came with my ip3600 (cli521, pgi520) and they work flawlessly.

Oh, he knows the truth, but he's a salesman...

And if you compared the cost of a set of cartridges, you might discover that it would be smart to buy a second printer, just to get another set of full cartridges, plus a spare print head. Then, sometime, hopefully in the far distant past when your printer is no longer available, you have a failure of your first printer and a pressing deadline to meet, you will have an instant solution and no decisions about which printer to switch to.
