Hi all,

Just wondering about the chips on different models of Canon printers. I have an MG 5350 and my brother has an MG 5150 .. I have ordered some transparent carts from the link below ... but was wondering if I get chips from other catridges and fit to these wondering if they will work in my model. I currently have original Canon carts which I'm going to swap over to the new transparent ones but was looking at purchasing a second set but needed the chips.

I know many people just throw away there cartridges which seems a waste if I can reuse them.

Even if you move the chips to a another cartridge, you'll still need to reset it. Or disable ink monitoring on your printer. Why not just refill your OEM carts? there's a number of threads here about refilling 525/526 carts.

You can get a resetter from http://www.ausjetinks.com.au/p/USB-...n/Resetters-Testers/INK-30-CHIPRESETTER526USB

BTW, both your 5350 and your brother's 5150 use the same 525/526 carts (if you weren't already aware).

Thanks for the reply I have a redsetter from the same place which has worked twice on the original carts but wanted to try refilling the german method and thought it may be easier to fill with the transparent carts as opposed to the originals.

Thanks

The opaque ones do present a challenge. I have no direct experience with transferring chips so I can't help you there. I don't know if you've tried a Search or not but there may be a topic that answers that question. Good Luck.

Everybody recommend using OEM cartridges for refilling as do I, they are the best after all.

Compatibles cartridges are the easiest to refill by far thats their main attraction (Top Fill) but the more times you refill them
the greater chance they have of failing to supply enough ink do the job properly for you.

On the other hand if youre going to use compatible cartridges and fill
using the German method then they are not the easiest to refill at all.

Theres a little ridge on the entry of the reservoir that can be very difficult to overcome
on compatibles but is not a huge problem on OEMs.

If you thinking of swapping the chips from one or more of your cartridges to another then this post will help you.
