I have received remanufactured and compatible C221 series ink cartridges from several sources. Some have over twice the ink capacity as others. I cannot find any differentiation between these two configurations in product descriptions from various suppliers. Does anyone have advice on reliably obtaining the high capacity units? I do find capacity differentiation info on the C220 black cartridges, but I have not yet found same on the C221 series.

The Chroma Life Inks come in CLI-221 and CLI-8 and some others. The CLI-8's are much larger than the CLI-221, which mostly come in the newer printers. Neither is interchangeable with the other.

If you refill the capacity of the cartridges really does not matter much. You will not waste any ink (almost) because the cartridges are smaller. You will only need to refill more frequently. You still use all the ink you refilled. There is no waste except consumed by the cleaning cycles.

Don't use any compatible cartridges. They are really junk, comparing to the quality of OEM. Not only you will have a lot of problems you will likely kill off your print head soon.
