Can I fill my pro-100 ink cartridges with pigment ink?

Hi, I have a new pro-100 printer that has not been primed or anything, I am hoping I can buy refillable ink cartridges and fill them with pigment inks.
What would happen if i would? would I be a happy camper?

Your Pro 100 will not be good using pigment inks, full stop, so there’s no point in you even trying it. Just get yourself the Pro 10 and then you can be the best happy camper of them all.

If you haven’t used your Pro 100 yet then get an empty CLI-8 yellow cartridge and refill it using good ink and never look back, try http://www.precisioncolors.com/PC42.html for empty cartridges and inks !

OK, but I dont have empty cartridges, so i would first have to get a set canon ones because PC doesnt have empty cartridges.

If you check with PC again you'll find they do have cartridges, but you only need to get one not the whole set when you purchase ink , just the CLI-8 yellow will do and you can use the rest of the cart set that came with the printer excluding the CLI-42 yellow of course !

Could you even run Pigment ink in a cart with a sponge?

You probably could but I reckon it would be more of a walk than a run before the inevitable nozzle clogs appeared, and @pharmacist tried that once with his i9950 (BCI-6) and gave up very quickly..

Wouldn't the sponge trap pigment particles quite effectively? Thus the reason for the different cart design on the PRO-9500, PRO-1 and PRO-10?
Is the PRO-10 cart design like the PRO-1? I am not sure.

The Pro 10 cart is the same as the Pro 9500 cart and performs exactly the same just with a different chip that is all, I am currently using two CLI-72 carts in two of my printers in place of the PGI-9’s no different..

Oh OK!
That's very convenient then.
So the only one with the different exit port is the PRO-1 carts. Still very easy to refill once an option is universally available.

Buck for buck the Pro 10 is a far better buy than the Pro 1 is, because it’s cheaper, will very soon have 3rd party inks plus a redsetter and is very easy to refill, so things couldn’t get better for the Pro 10..
