I have a Brother MFC-L8650CDW.
It had been fine then suddenly started reporting a paper jam on every duplex sheet. Jamming with the paper in exactly the same position about half way sucked back into the printer for duplexing.
After a lot if internet searching and head scratching the solution turned out to be quite simple.
Opening the back of the printer shows a sort of plastic cage paper guide thing which directs the paper around and underneath the transfer rollers for duplexing. This guide can be unclipped at the top and hinges down. In the middle of the guide is a plastic finger and shaft running to the left of the printer. The end of the shaft has a flag which I assume breaks the beam in an optical slot sensor. I was working with the printer against a wall so couldn't actually see much of this. I blew around where I thought the slot sensor was with an air duster and the problem was fixed.
The slot sensor must has accumulated some dust or perhaps some fluff which stopped the printer seeing the page pass through the duplex guide cage.
