The blue has been playing up for a loong time now
I deep clean twice - OK for a few prints
Then problem returns

The ink I use is from Octoink

Should I try cleaning with print head?
Or should I try a new blue cartridge?

Thanks

Omar

This sounds to me more like a cartridge problem than a print head problem. Even if expensive a new OEM cartridge is an excellent diagnostic tool in this situation. Don't remove the print head for cleaning outside the printer yet, as this is always risky.

If your cartridges have been refilled more than a few times, they might need flushing. I have also had ink flow problems with the PGI-520/CLI-521 cartridges. The cartridges that I had problems with were refilled using the German method. I cut open one of the failed cartridges and the lower sponge was damaged by the needle. I have now started to use the top fill method for these cartridges, and the problems are fewer. The cartridges still show ink flow problems or underweight problems after a number of refills, so flushing and drying them after 3-5 refills seems to me to be a good idea.

The inks from Octoinkjet are good, but what kind of cartridges are you refilling, and what method for refilling are you using? Only OEM cartridges should be refilled. Third party pre filled or refillable cartridges have given many ink flow problems, leading to print head failure, if they are refilled.

please post a nozzle check which will give a better idea of the problem. However I have the MP620 and also experienced flow problems with both cyan and magenta. As PeterBj says there have been instances of these 521 carts not working very well using the German method. Like him I turned to top fill but still prefer the German method.

If the carts are occasionally flushed to re-condition the sponges this usually solves the problem, however if that does not work you may have to resort to cleaning the head in Windex or similar cleaning solution. This is what I had to do eventually to clear the magenta channel
