Hi

I have noticed some black streaks on the bottom of the prints, no idea where they come from.

Four mounts old Canon ix6550 with CISS (cityinkexpress) dye inks (Fotorite). I have printed approx. 500 bordless A3 photos so far with no problem. It does not matter what paper I use, I tried many different.
Noozle check is OK, head cleaning done, bottom plate and roller cleaning as well.
Noticeable when print bordless A4 and A3 standard and high quality settings.

Thank you for any hints.

Have you tried a blank page i.e. print and cancel or just one line of text? It looks as though the tail of the paper is making contact with something.

Every year I address my Christmas card envelopes on my i9900 since my HP laser won't handle envelopes - this is the only time that I print anything except photos on this printer.

Every time that I do this, the first 5-10 envelopes come out smudged (similar to your photos) from dragging against something in the paper path, cleaning it in the process. Once I do this, the rest of the envelopes come out clean. I now print a scrap envelope multiple times until it doesn't pick up any additional smudges before printing the finished product.

Try printing on something thicker and "springy" (like folded paper or an envelope) to see it it cleans whatever is causing your streaks.

Years ago I had a similar problem. It was happening to borderless prints at the trailing edge. If the paper has even a slight curve in the long dimension this can happen. The fix was described as pulling the paper over a table edge to remove or reverse the curve. This involved handling every piece of paper before printing - a big pain. I did find that if I left paper in the top feed area after doing a print job it tended to take on a slight curve after a while. Now, after doing some printing, I remove the remaining paper from the feed area and store it absolutely flat. That solved some of the problem. The other thing I've done when this problem starts is the following. Notice that when the printed paper comes out of most printers it drops down onto the area where the prints stack. This changes the angle of the paper as it prints the tailing edge of the print. You can put a book or thin box on the output tray to support the paper so that it isn't drooping down while printing the last 1/4 inch of the page. Apparently it prevents the tailing edge from raising up enough to contact whatever is transferring ink to the print. It is possibly the bottom of the printhead.
