I have a simple question. Does any one print successfully black and white photos using non OEM cartridges?
My interest is in Canon 5 cartridge system, and without profiling

I recently did some B&W prints from scans of old photos on my wife's ip5000 with carts refilled with Computer Friends inks (www.cfriends.com). Fairly neutral grays. For some unknown reason my i960, with which I did some good B&W prints with MIS inks some months ago, now leans toward the red on B&W prints with MIS inks. New printhead, good nozzle checks, and prints well otherwise, albeit with a tendancy toward reds. I may try the computer friends inks in the i960 to see if they are better or if it is a peculiarity of my printer.

fotofreek, thanks for responding.
Do you know if Computer Friends use the same ink in cartridges they sell?

I don't know. You can either email them or call them to ask that question. I haven't used any aftermarket prefillec carts as refilling is so easy and even cheaper than low cost prefilled carts.

As far as prefilled carts are concerned, Neil Slade has reported that G&G carts from Inkgrabbers have excellent color balance, but I don't know about neutral gray printing.
