This is what I have found about the amount of printnozzles on the latest Canon IP3600/IP4600 printers on druckerchannel.de:
Dsen iP3500 (2007):
320 (K) + 2x512 (CM) + 256 (Y)
Dsen iP4500 (2007):
512 (K) + 2x1.536 (CM) + 2x512 (Y PBK)
Dsen iP3600 (2008):
320 (K) + 2x1.536 (CM) +2x512 (Y PBK)
Dsen iP4600 (2008):
320 (K) + 2x786 (CM) +2x256 (Y PBK)
Dsen means printnozzles. For example the IP3500 introduced in 2007 had 320 printnozzles for the pigment black K + 2 x 512 for Cyan and Magenta + 256 for Yellow. PBK = Photo Black.
As you can see: the IP4500 is for superior for both the pigment black and the photo dye colours.
Buy one if you still can !!! Cheaper in usage and easily refillable/resettable and even using the original PGI-5/CLI-8 cartridges the printcosts are 20-25 % lower compared to the smaller CLI-521/PGI-520 cartridges.
