Greetings - first time poster here.

Alas, I had a big greeting card print job just before the holidays, and I let my black ink cartridge in my Artisan 810 go dry. It then started printing black sporadically, and then not at all.

I refilled the cartridge, reset it, and the printer recognizes the cart as full. However, no matter that I have twice cleaned the printhead using the printer utility, no black ink is printing.

Do I need to manually prime the black printhead? If so, what is the proper procedure? I do have a syringe with a rubber tip which will tightly fit over the ink "spike" that punctures the cartridge.

I did search the Epson forums here, looking for the procedure, and I have seen some references to priming with a syringe, but no procedure was given. I absolutely love my Artisan 810 - please help me revive it!

All of them! LOL
Pressumably you are using refillable carts??? You have air in the black line leading to the print head but, are you sure you want to pump ink with a syringe directly through the ink stem? I would be Very careful of doing that. In it is an established procedure, I am not aware of it. A technician with an adjustment program would do a complete recharge or re initialization like the printer does when it is brand new.

Yes, I am using refillable carts.

Is there an Epson Adjustment Program for the Artisan 810 available anywhere? Presumably that program can reprime the printer.

Santer,

Thanks for the link. I had tried the WICReset program earlier today. While it sees my Artisan 810, it doesn't actually afford the control that it claims to on the website. In particular, for my Artisan 810, there is no way to "ink charge" (which I assume is automatic ink priming). I already have the Epson waste ink reset tool, but it is unnecessary - my waste ink counters are low.

It continues to look like I need to manually (or automatically, if I could get the appropriate Epson Adjustment Program) prime the black print head, but I am lacking a procedure to do this.

Still looking for help....
