Sorry somehow I misread that they are without sponges. Now that I have looked at enlarged image I see the sponge is so white that I thought that there is none.

I still wonder Epson compatible carts (from same seller for SX115) are sure without sponges. I wonder how long do they last.
Does anyone know if SX115 has round metal guide for printhead carriage or like newer canon's just bent sheet metal.

I was thinking however that newer canons are not so bad, but after disassembling one pixma that had this new "bent sheet carriage guide" I noticed that the print head carriage has no nylon or metal parts that would be used to make it glide along the metal edge.

The same black plastic used to make carriage is the plastic that contacts the metal edge, and after some time of hi quality printing (in this mode print head moves far more than other modes) the black plastic is worn and the carriage gets misaligned. This make various carriage movement problems, bad print head alignments, and complete failure just after about 1000 A4 pages text, 300photos 10x15, 25photos A4.

Smile,

I have still a few emty OEM CLI-8 carts if you are interested, original ones with the orig chip on them, but NOT the red and green one.
You coud opt for taking 2 other color carts and get the chips ( red and green ) for them.
At least you have the original cart, nothing better.
Email me if you are interested.

Absolutely junk! There have been tons of posts that explained why you should use only OEM ink cartridges. Why are you still attracted by those that are made to kill your print head? You can easily find used OEM CLI-8 cartridges in perfect shape for refilling at lower cost.

Smile,

I see you've been here quite some time, so I'm sure you're familiar with the self-righteous firestorm that can get started when anyone dares to suggest using anything else but OEM carts in their refill tasks. Look ... you know new printers are CHEAP - in fact, buying an entirely new printer is frequently cheaper than buying a new set of Canon OEM carts when you run out of ink. SO ... buy the refillable carts you like, buy some name-brand 3rd party inks to fill them up, use them for as long as you can and feel completely free to "destroy" your print head. When (more like IF) the head goes south, you toss the printer in the high-tech recycle bin and buy another one. They've honestly become just about that disposable now.

Well I agree that OEM is the best you can find, I'm outsourcing where to get them locally just now. Shipping prices makes it too expensive to buy and ship from another country.

New printers are cheap, but show me 6-ink A4 photo printer from canon? There is no such thing, except the pro line pro 9000, pro 9500.

So in fact I'm looking forward to replace my trusty 6700D with some Epson 6-ink printer with ARC chips and no sponge cartridges. I would buy Canon if they had the quality they had before they began the FINE print head all integrated into cartridges nonsense.
