Hi All-

I new here. Recently, I bought a Epson CX8400. I was horrified when it was time to buy ink and saw that I could not by 3rd party ink carts with chips in them (at least that's what I found at the time). So I bought a CISS System (continuous ink system). It did not work great from the start and recently failed all together and I also had lots of issues with the heads clogging.

So I'm now in the market for a new printer again. So what I'm looking for is a new ink jet that can still take 3rd party carts. I prefer not to refill carts or mess with carts (swapping or resetting chips, drilling carts, etc, etc). I just want to buy a nice printer and buy high quality, 3rd party carts and replace them as needed. So what printer models and 3rd party ink fits my requirements? Thanks SO much!

Quad

Edit - Strickly on the issue of carts, I am not 100% against having to refill carts, but would prefer to just buy 3rd party high-quality replacements and discpose of them (yes, I'm lazy ;D ).

Older canon with BCI-6 cartridge system is your best bet.

Hi - example of a fairly recent model # of a Canon printer (that uses the BCI-6) that I can hopefully still find a new/old stock printer somewhere? Thanks :D

Canon stopped producing them at least a year back so can find only second hand or try www.ebay.com
