According to the supplementary service manual the error P07 means the ink absorber is getting full. You need to replace or clean the absorber and reset the absorber counter. The reset is done with a service tool and from service mode.

To do the reset your printer must first enter service mode. The procedure is found in the supplementary service manual op pages 6/15 to 8/15 incl. After having entered service mode see pages 6/15 and 9/15 for the absorber reset. Choose the value 0% for the preset value.

You find the supplementary service manual here: http://www.bosscan.cz/podpora/Technicka_podpora/Faxy a Multifunkce/PIXMA MP280/mp280_495-srm.pdf

You should also download this manual, which is the basis for the supplementary manual:
https://elektrotanya.com/canon_pixma_mp240_mp245_mp260_mp268_mp480_mp486.pdf/download.html
Sadly this manual has no info about disassembling the printer, but the parts catalog and service manual for the larger MP560 might be helpful: http://elektrotanya.com/canon_pixma_mp560pc.pdf/download.html and http://elektrotanya.com/canon_pixma_mp560sm.pdf/download.html

For download from electrotanya please read this instruction before download: http://www.printerknowledge.com/thr...-post-them-here-sticky.5071/page-9#post-36684

Resetting the absorber counter without changing or cleaning the absorbers doesn't make the ink disappear. You risk a nasty ink spill if do that. But if the print job is urgent you could preset the absorber to for instance 70%. This will allow you to do some printing before the printer closes down again.

I think that the print engine in the MP280 is an iP2700, and there is not very much ink absorber material in the iP2700! So beware of the ink overflow risk.

You can read more about service tools and service mode operations in this (lengthy) thread: http://www.printerknowledge.com/threads/canon-service-tool-v2000.6615/

Could it be error 006? This indicates that the printer has not entered service mode. This is the procedure for entering service mode on the MP280 from the supplementary service manual, slightly edited to make it more clear:

i. With the machine power turned off, while pressing the Stop/Reset button, press and hold the ON button. (DO NOT release the buttons).
ii. When the Power LED lights in green, while holding the ON button, release the Stop/Reset button. (DO NOT release the ON button.)
iii. While holding the ON button, press and release the Stop/Reset button 5 times, and then release the ON button. (Each time the Stop/Reset button is pressed, the Alarm and Power LEDs light alternately, Alarm in orange and Power in green, starting with Alarm LED.)
iv. When the Power LED lights in green, the machine is ready for the service mode operation and "0" is displayed on the 7-segment LCD.
