There is a saying in both Danish and English: "A dog never bites the hand that feeds him". I guess that explains it.

With a refill cost for one cartridge of maybe 1 $ instead of 10 or more $ for a new Canon OEM cartridge I just print everything I want to without worrying about ink costs. I now look for bargain good quality paper.

Epson, Canon, HP... A "few"
In fairness it's about saving ink, not money so refilling it moot... Although having said that they do discuss third party cartridges so it does go off topic with the usual dire potents and apocalyptic warnings... or, actually does it? In some ways the wording on that is what we say here too... ie: shop around, check reviews, reputation, etc...

Refilling is a technically challenging process for most people so unless they plan to do a massive expose on the whole thing, broken down with all instructions, methods, etc... it's not something they're likely to touch on. KISS applies I'd have said.

I've suggested refilling to several friends who are either short of financial resources or are simply thrifty. Most just don't want to bother, aren't the type to "tinker" with projects that require the manual dexterity that they feel they don't have, or just don't have the time to devote to a project they can simply avoid by buying cartridges.

Having recently purchased a new Canon 9000 mkII (they are presently very inexpensive in our area as they were bundled with a Canon dslr purchase and the camera buyers had no use for them), I went through the process of setting up the CLI-8 carts and backups for refilling. I had forgotten how much time is involved in this process. All my printers, up until this purchase, have been BCI-6 printers. Now with refilling of both types of carts I have ink, some colors of which are used for both and some specific to the BCI or CLI carts. Two different sets of backup carts, some with silicone plugs and some with screw/O-rings. Once I got it all set up and organized it is just as easy as before, but looking forward to the process and then doing the hours of preparation lead me to understand the reluctance of some to even get started!
