Thank's all for your replies.
To get around the problem, I:
1.Ordered a Brother colour laser - which works fine.
2.Ordered a new black printhead for the Canon G7020.
The new printhead worked - note that the printer was only used intermittently ( still managing to suck out ink at an alarming...
Worse printer I ever owned.
Couple of months ago ended up doing multiple 'ink flushes' to get decent colour and b/w; today cannot get any black (pg bk 20), at all.
Tried multiple cleanings/deep cleanings/flushes to no avail.
Anyone know what's next?
After an overnight soaking and initial head clean, I let the head sit unused for another day.
While the light magenta doesn't show well in the scan, it's obviously there on the paper.
The black bar on top of the yellow has gone (which was my original concern).
I had previously checked the purge...
I think it's purging OK, previously squirted water on the pads and looks like it sucked it away.
Here's the side by side of the problem ip4300 printer on left and good ip4500 printer on right.
Then the same image with contrast added.
Not familiar with 'extended nozzle check'.
I've put the head to soak overnight ( gave it a cleaning a week ago to no avail).
Note the PGI 5 with the ring of ink - significant? - however that cart, with all the rest of them came from another printer (which now has the originals and shows no problem).
The line is always at the top of the yellow.
Here's an untouched scan.
The carts are refilled OEM.
I switched the carts with another printer;the problem stays with the original printer.
I would expect a leak to affect all of the colours, not just the yellow.
On a Canon ip 4300, there is a fine black line visible on the yellow nozzle check - it doesn't show on a scan, so I won't post it.
I replaced the photo carts then the pigment cart from a known good ip 4500 to no avail.
If I select either a clean of the colour carts or the pigment cart, the...
Since my ip6000 died I'm left with these photo inks that are no longer required.
Now that I'm using an ip4300, what's the colour difference between photo and non-photo inks.
If I put the photo cyan/magenta ink in the regular cyan/magenta carts will it all end in tears?
Is it OK to put photo...
