Sorry, the Hat, I am only now seeing your message. Yes, the resetter you graciously sent me has worked to reset refilled cartridges on my newly installed backup ip4500 (after my ip4300 finally dying). Thank you so much, I really appreciated your sending it!
On another note, Canon has...
Hi pharmacist, I remember you from years ago on niffty-printer forum. I wondered if you still are able to use chip resetters.
I still have a canon ip4300 which I have been resetting successfully for years.
My chip resetter finally stopped working. I'm assuming the batteries ran out. New...
Hi The Hat, Can you explain what "Washing up" liquid is? Do you mean regular dishwashing liquid?
I am still using my ip4300 from 2015. Recently, my nozzle check is showing missing bottom half of PGI-5. I attached a few images. I've been trying to clear it using an old cartridge with...
hachuelo,
I had the exact same problem with my ip4300, and it completely revived.
Hope yours does.
Here's 2 suggestions to try one of:
1) Using an eyedropper, or a simple straw, put some distilled water on the park pads (described on the previous post above).
Also put some distilled...
Strobemonkey,
Another idea is to fill an empty cart with windex (original formula which has ammonia) and use that "cleaning cart" to print some solid, whole page blocks of the color that's giving a problem. I've printed 4 or 5 of these full page color blocks using the windex cleaning cart...
Hi Strobemonkey,
I had a clogged PGI-5 cart where the entire nozzle print was missing that cleared by my putting drops of distilled water onto the intake screen of the printhead (just beneath where the cart sits) as well as onto the park pads. I did this repeatedly, letting it sit for a while...
Hi everyone,
I recently thought that my magenta was partially missing from recent prints compared to older prints, so I placed some distilled water on the printhead screen inlet, and on the park pads but the nozzle checks looked the same.
So I made a windex w ammonia cleaning cart and printed...
Mikling,
Thanks for your detailed post.
Powerlines may be lower energy, but I wouldn't assume that the "fields cancel each other at a distance anyway."
See photo & article below.
Problem is I don't think we can know what effect even low energy fields may have on cells when exposure is on-going...
The Hat,
Thanks for your reply.
I was not suggesting an in depth study requiring quite a bit of time ... more just a summary of people's impressions who may have tried more than one ink.
But I do hear you that it would likely quickly become "old data."
Seems like some of the key variables that I've read (and/or experienced some of) for good quality ink include:
* brightness of the colors
* how quickly they fade in normal light
* proneness to clog issues (ex. purge unit & tubing)
* other key ones I'm forgetting?
Thought to be quality inks...
The Hat:
Thanks for the suggestions where to get both dye based and pigment ink together.
The first one you cited: www.inkjetcarts.us
They are located in my region, but I couldn't find which brand of inks they use.
Do you know? Do they use one of the ones that ghwellsjr said did better...
thanks so much. I'll follow your suggestions.
And thanks the Hat: your response adds one more option to consider, i.e. Continue purchasing from Hobbicolors if Dave is willing to replace the 2 PGI-5 black bottles in his bulk ink kit with 2 CLI-8 black instead.
Have you tried the dye based...
Thanks ghwellsjr for your detailed explanation. And the Hat for your reply as well.
I have been using this ip4300 since July 2007 (coming up on 4 years), using only Hobbicolors inks, including their pigment black.
My total page count (TPAGE) to date is 9,165
and the waste pad absorber shows...
When I had a PGI-5 clog so I had none of the PGI-5 image in the nozzle check, it was repeatedly putting a few drops of distilled water (windex may be better yet) both on the screen where the cart sits as well as on the 2 "park pads" which the printhead sits on to the extreme right when parked...
P.S. Any thoughts on using (Hobbicolors) dye based black (cli8-bk) in PGI-5 cart (instead of Hobbicolors pigmented ink) -- either to clean or for regular use? I think I recall someone suggesting it for cleaning clogs, and someone else saying they used it regularly.
ghwellsjr,
Thanks for your reply, and sharing your experience. Your pictures and explanations are so helpful. I'm sure we all appreciate how much time you put into trying to make things clear.
I'm wondering where you are now, after all you have tried, with the issue of waste pad full?
Do you...
Just wondering (may not be a good idea) if anyone has tried drilling a hole somewhere in the bottom of canon printers to allow controlled draining of any accumulated waste ink into a container when the dreaded "waste tank full" error appears. (to avoid having to disassemble printer and clean or...
