Canon dye ink in an Epson printer? Why not use Epson dye ink?
I've used Epson dye ink in an Epson D68 pigment printer. It was OEM ink, I only had to exchange the chips on the cartridges. The result was great, but matte setting was necessary. There was a color shift to magenta, so the magenta...
So the printer doesn't remember the chip numbers of each cartridge! What a relief. So now I can reset the same chip over and over again and the printer thinks I installed a new cartridge every time.
Canon probably collects the info at every update, to keep track of their consumer's ink use...
Inkjet photo papers are not suitable for laser printers. The heat will damage the paper and the plastic sticks on internal parts of the printer.
I've heard of photo paper for laser printers, but have no experience with it.
Non OEM cartridges often contain much more ink than the OEM version. So if a chip on such a non OEM cartridge says the ink is finished, it usually is not.
Some non OEM carts even contain twice as much ink. In such cases the chip is worthless for ink monitoring.
With my Epson printers I have had...
A local baker offered me a set of Canon 525/526 cartridges. The carts came with his printer and he never installed them since he uses edible ink.
So a baker uses a regular Canon printer and the best way to prevent getting normal ink in our food is to start with a new, never used, printer :)
The disabling of the ink monitor has always been a service by Canon to let the consumer use his ink to the last drop. The user has paid for the ink, not?
Its also a possibility to print like in the good old days, when cartridges didnt have a chip.
I think the Canon method is normal, while the...
There are dye inks that are specially made for pigment printers. I think the manufacturer already has adjusted the viscosity, so it works perfectly on pigment printers. Ive experienced that with an Epson durabrite printer.
I wonder if the surface tension can be improved by adding a drop of...
I think refillers choose Canon because the refilling of Canon OEM carts is easy. And now Epson XP600/XP800 is popular amongst refillers for the same reason.
I'm more or less an Epson man, I bought a Canon printer for the grey ink (for b/w photos). Epson has only got grey ink in their A3...
I think Epson is the most refined of the three. And the Epson printhead is very strong, it outlives the printer!
But Epson printers dont swallow all ink. Universal ink often clogs the nozzles.
And Canon and HP? Every brand has its pros and cons.
Canon: the most used by refillers. Non OEM carts...
Than Huy:
The Canon printers are known for having the printhead burnt in case of running dry. That is not the case with HP printers; the printhead usually stays intact after running dry. So the HP printhead must be more robust than the Canon head.
You cant find this in tech specs; its just...
Apart from the difference in colour and density there is also a different viscosity for the various brands of printers. Ink for Canon and HP must be heat resistant.
So the universal ink has an average viscosity and density and is heat resistant. As you noticed it works in your Canon. I dont...
Thats a very nice action of Canon US. Weve red otherwise on this board.
Its not only consumer friendly, there is also an own interest for Canon. Printer manufacturers have to allow third party ink cartridges on the market, but not counterfeit OEM brand cartridges. So they like to keep track of...
Some months ago I gave my wife a new computer and its equipped with W8.
She missed the start button too, so I installed a little tool called startisback

Now were satisfied with the new PC.:)
About the mouse: Some years ago I got a free wireless mouse with my laptop...
The ink in the BCI-6 tanks is not the same as in the CLI-8 tanks. The newer ink is lighter than the older ink. The BCI-6 ink can be used, but photos will come out darker. You can adjust that by the color sliders in the printer driver. For the best results you should have a profile made.
Some sellers offer dye ink for Durabrite printers like the 1100. The colors of these inks are more close to those of the original inks. There will be less need to make a profile.

Just noticed an advertisement for refillable carts with ARC chips.

A bit costly yet, but they had to be newly...
Of all the pros and cons I havent seen this one:
The use of glossy pigment inks, like the popular K3 type, is only possible in piezo printers.
The reason? The resin coating on the pigment particles doesnt combine with the heat in a thermal print head. Thats why glossy pigment ink is not...
