Canon still allows the user to switch off the chip in the cartridge. That turns a new Canon into a printer with chipless cartridges. The Canon inkjet printers are the highest quality around (together with Epson). I'm satisfied with my Canon printers.
BUT (there is always a but):
Having switched...
But it's much less than 14 years. It was introduced october25 2001, that is 12,5 years. It was sold until 2007 when it was followed by Vista. That makes it 6 years. After the introduction of Vista it still was sold, as an alternative. So now its is 5 or 4 years.
I wonder how long Windows 8.1...
The trick with two drives, or two partitions, is useful for parallel port users too. Imagine the next setup:
drive 1: Windows 7, internet connection, mail, social media, streaming video and audio. Newer printers are installed to print mail or other documents.
drive 2: Windows XP, Photoshop...
Maybe you can borrow a multimeter to check the output of the power supply.
I've got an extra Canon power supply 16v 2A. It might be suitable. In what region do you live?
Here is what I'm going to do. I'll mount my spare hard disk in the computer and install Win7 on that. Later on I can decide to drop the XP. I checked my printers and scanners, they are all able to work with Win7.
I'm not looking forward to reinstall all tools and software I've got. Maybe I'll...
The cartridges are on sale again at Lidl. In your region it may be some weeks earlier or later so check the Lidl offers for your region.
The package says 'ink Swiss made' so I think the carts are filled with 'Peach' ink. I bought the 'for Canon 526' product last year and I'm satisfied with the...
I like to fill my carts with non standard inks, like grey ink in color carts or dye ink in pigment carts. I also have filled carts with cleaning fluid.
For the standard inks I buy United Office carts which are not refilled after use. These carts are on sale at Lidl this week.
Always disable updates on installing a new printer. It's also recommendable to make an image of the EPROM to undo firmware upgrades. I'm afraid it's too late for that now.:old
It seems that Epson cs is in war with their own customers...
The 'Dreft' product is worth a try! But don't use the laundry detergent but the dish washing fluid.

Fairy = Dreft in most European countries.
It's the virus scanner that protects your computer from infection, not the windows. So I think these weekly Windows upgrades are not really necessary.
I'll keep using XP as long as I own this puter and I don't expect much problems. I did the same with my previous Win 2000 computer.
Remember: to...
Is that with one print head?
Then this is great record indeed! :thumbsup
The MP830 is a sturdy machine, I can only hope that my MG6250 produces the promised 18 K pages.
I'm going for the lazy method too!
My Canon is disconnected from mains with a main switch. The main switch also disconnects the other equipment. I noticed that it keeps the printer from daily(!) cleaning. But I don't know if your Pro-1 can be fooled in the same way. Don't forget to switch the printer off in the regular way before...
The half yearly photo paper sale is on at Aldi. This paper is called "netBit" but it is obviously Sihl. I bought this paper half a year ago and I'm very satisfied.
The other ad is a very cheap universal ink set. I can't say much about the quality yet, but it comes with a lot of extra's...
Most printers add some color to the black text to get a deeper black. This can't be switched off.
It is useful because it keeps some ink flow through the color head; the color head will get clogged if it is unused during a longer time.
If you don't mind about a clogged color head, you can leave...
... keeps your printer fit!
Forum members who don't print much will notice that the nozzles get clogged after a week of non use.
Specialists here recommend to print a nozzle check twice a week to prevent this. But a nozzle check printout is dull, so people often forget it.
Printing one or two...
I think there should be more reviews about plain paper, it is the most used paper.
It's good you discovered that Staples paper is better than HP brand paper.
At the moment I've got some Xerox 75 gsm paper. I's very white! Next time I choose the United Office again.
What's puzzling me: Is propylene glycol the same as Glycol, the working component in anti freeze?
And is isopropyl alcohol the same as ethanol, which is the alcohol in our drinks?
In that case I can make the solution with supermarket ingredients. In anti freeze there are additives to color it...
