How often should I use a Canon inkjet to ensure nozzles don't become clogged?

Ok thanks will crop the next one after installing new cartridges, hopefully on Monday. I'm beginning to fear that I may have to buy a new ('imitation', non OEM) print head again. They are available on ebay from China for as little as €20 or so so it's not the end of the world if I do.

How often should I use a Canon inkjet to ensure nozzles don't become clogged?

No. I noticed them. I'm awaiting new ink cartridges. If that doesnt fix it will have to clean printheads again.

How often should I use a Canon inkjet to ensure nozzles don't become clogged?

For what it's worth....I changed the Windows update settings on my back to automatic update. I restarted the laptop and tried a test print using the standard Windows 10 app (i.e., right click on a photo in, say, Windows explorer, and select print for the range of options that appear in the...

How often should I use a Canon inkjet to ensure nozzles don't become clogged?

I'm not clear on whether my laptop will at some point attempt to download the other, bug-ridden, update. So I adjusted my settings to postpone new updates for 35 days (the maximum postponing period permitted) to be on the safe side.

How often should I use a Canon inkjet to ensure nozzles don't become clogged?

Ok, when I use Edge the download starts fine. However it was taking a long time and I lost patience and cancelled the download. I just tried a test print using the Windows 10 app (i.e., right click on a photo, and select the print option) and it came out fine. I also tried a Word print and it...

How often should I use a Canon inkjet to ensure nozzles don't become clogged?

It is saying 'can't be downloaded securely'. I can do without it for the time being.

How often should I use a Canon inkjet to ensure nozzles don't become clogged?

Hi Statman, Thanks for this. I couldn't seem to download those (from the last link). I can manage without as for me the bug only seems to affect printing from the built-in Windows app.

How often should I use a Canon inkjet to ensure nozzles don't become clogged?

Ok, you guys are the real experts on this stuff so I will try a follow up question. When I print photos using the standard Windows 10 menu, a large black stripe appears obscuring most of the centre of the photo. However, when I use a Canon photo print app, they come out fine. Is this a hardware...

Clogged or is it the print head?!

I had a similar nozzle check with a Canon inkjet 18 months ago - worse even - and I did have to buy a new printhead. I was able to find a cheap aftermarket one. It is working fine. You might want to look into trying a cleaning solution before forking out for a printhead.

How often should I use a Canon inkjet to ensure nozzles don't become clogged?

:) Yes my mum orders from that 123ink.ie website for her printer cartridges. I have to say though even the prices on there are a bit more than I'm prepared to pay. I reckon I'll continue buying generics (I buy from Colour Direct) and live with the risk of clogging nozzles every so often. I must...

Thanks Stratman. I'm from Ireland so just across the water from that supplier you mention.

How often should I use a Canon inkjet to ensure nozzles don't become clogged?

Thanks guys. I am using non-Canon generic inks simply to save money, so sounds like I need to print each week minimum.

    Problem with Canon Pixma MG6450

Fwiw, I did buy an after market print head on Ebay, and...printer is working fine again. So, fortunately, looks like I didn't damage the logic board.

    Problem with Canon Pixma MG6450

There's an old HP in the house that I resurrected. Unless anyone has any further suggestions I will assume the Canon is kaput(?) I suspect what is wrong is that I damaged the large nozzle while taking the rubber thing off with a tweezers before cleaning. But no point forking out for a new...
