Given the problems, especially with graphics, I think I'll abandon duplex printing. I've never needed it and it was my wife who decided to try it. If we have an all text big job, I might revisit it.
The output tray....Should it retract automatically after the several-minutes timeout elapses...
The graphics contents being the problem makes perfect sense ISF. The paper would certainly buckle somewhat with a heavier ink load. On further inspection, the problematic page was about 30% colour graphics. The previously-fed double-sided pages were text only and printed fine.
Thanks (as...
Plain paper, 8 1/2 X 11 in flat and pristine condition.
Not sure what side was printed first, but the removed, jammed page contained graphics - about 20% of page area.
Printer is under warranty - less than a month old. Epson tech support told me what the problem was and how to clear the jam...
Anyone had this problem? Mine did it this morning. Error 034004. HORRIBLE noise on attempted restart. Clack-clack-clack!
Jam occurred in the duplexer at rear. Attempting double-sided printing for the first time.
Any reports on double-sided printing success or failures?
Mine's a week old and it's my (probably) tenth Epson (including a wide format 9800.
The ET 8550 was by far the easiest setup and provides the most satisfying initial prints of any of them. Even the wireless printing/scanning functions worked right out of the box.
I do have a slight thread...
Just installed my new ET 8550. In probably two dozen printers I've installed over the last two or so decades, including two 44" units, this has to be the easiest, most successful install ever. WiFi, too - previously impossible. Delighted with the print quality, although I've done is...
Excellent. Thanks for your detailed report. The 673 dye inks in my L805 have performed satisfactorily with regard to colour stability, even under adverse display conditions. Top notch B/W performance is secondary and I'm willing to experiment with media and adjustments to obtain good...
I've had an L805 running Epson inks for about five years and I'm delighted with it in nearly all respects other than the BW colour shifting issue and its maximum print size. For those reasons, I'm considering an ET 8550.
I'm a good photographer and I've used a variety of printers over the years...
Excellent. Glad to hear it. First time I've heard of software causing line skips. Glad you figured it out.
It's not a photograph until it's a print. :)
"Lines in the prints" are a hardware (ie printer) problem, not software.
I use Photoshop to print photographs. Photoshop does, however have to talk to the printer's driver software, so there are two layers at work there. Inside the Epson driver software is a tab labelled "Utility". Use...
Tassem, I'm a retired cinematographer and I take photos now just for my own enjoyment. My Epson L 805 is an incredibly enjoyable printer and I've been using it regularly for a few years now with zero problems. Superb image quality.
My other printer is a $4K USD HP Z3200 wide format printer and...
Profiles are used to ensure colour accuracy with a specific media and or inkset. Most of this discussion revolves around monochrome printing with dye inks. A good profile is what you need for "neutral grays when printing colour pictures"
Indeed. The fact that it makes even just "acceptable" monochrome prints is a bonus.
The 805 is an excellent little printer. Just as enjoyable as its big bro, the Z3200.
FWIW, after two years, I see little fading or colour shifts with prints stuck scientifically to my fridge. :)
Suddenly, I can't print the black border that's listed in the Epson printer driver.
Also, when I open the Print dialog, the image layout graphic is incorrectly displayed. The image shows off-center and the wrong size. If I click "done" and re-open the Print dialog, the graphic displays...
Greyscale-B/W option removes the metamerism, but also removes any colour toning (sepia, etc.) from the photo.
Greyscale print looks a little harsh - "chalky" might describe it best. I haven't tried it on other media. So many variables! :(
I have another L-805 question, but I'll make a...
Excellent, ISF. Thanks for the clarification. I'll do a bunch of tests changing media targets and input file colour balance until I get something better. A print that looks a little red under incandescent is far preferable to one that looks green in daylight. It is truly a horrid green...
A timely thread. I've been printing monochrome images with my L805 and was astounded at the degree of metamerism apparent on print.
Prints that look fine under tungsten light are horrid green in daylight. Because of this thread, I chose "plain paper" as the media, and continued to use my...
Thanks for this thread. Green prints in daylight have been a problem for me for weeks. Using information from Ink Stained Fingers, my monochrome prints from my OEM Epson inks in my L-805 now look good in daylight and incandescent light. I might add, that I add 10 points of magenta to the...
