It's possible that those nozzles have been clogged for so long that now they are burnt out. Did you do any printing, other than nozzle checks, while the print head was in this condition? My suggestion is to leave your printer alone but plugged in and do a nozzle check once a day to see if any...
Well, you don't want to leave it completely alone, you want to use it at least once a week. Even if you don't want to print something, at least do a nozzle check.
Most Canon printers only have a problem with the pigment black ink when not used for a long time. Since your printer only uses dye...
I have discovered that with very old Canon printers, the way to get them to work with Windows 7 or 8 is not to follow the instructions which say to install the drivers from the disk before plugging in the computer. Instead, you just make sure the computer is connected to the internet and plug in...
Since the pattern of missing nozzles is regular, this usually means it's electrical and usually it's a fault in the print head and usually can't be fixed. However, since you said that before it was missing the top half, it's possible that the electrical problem is a poor and intermittent...
If you tell the printer you are printing on any photo paper, such as matte, it will use the dye black ink and allow you to print real black like you want to. It will be slower than when the pigment black was working but better than the way you are doing it now.
The idea that the large pigment black cartridge is used for printing text and the small dye black cartridge is used for printing photos is common, probably because Canon makes comments like that but it is wrong. It has nothing to do with what is printed, only with what kind of paper you tell the...
The "Push" button on the cartridge is for after you put it in the printer, you're supposed to push down on it so it snaps in place.
I concur with the earlier comments that your problem is electrical and will require a new print head. There are a different set of nozzles that are used for each...
I have three i9100 printers that use unchipped BCI-6 cartridges and can print a 13x19 photo in about 5 minutes. That means it would take a couple hours to print out 50 posters. Did you know this printer can actually print out 13x23? I have used pads of sketching paper cut to size as a cheap...
If you are going to use the Img button, you have to first highlight the url of the image and then hit the Img button.
However, the Img button is really for urls that are not on this forum. Since you have uploaded your images to this forum, just go to your Upload page and right-click on either...
I don't think it is anything planned as I have had the same issue with the print heads in older Canon printers that don't have chips. I have had situations where a print head was working in one printer and just moving it to a different printer causes it to die but not because of the printer...
Instead of matte paper, try Photo Paper Plus Glossy in draft mode. For a half page of text this took 28 seconds compared to 40 seconds for matte on my iP4000. It uses less ink as you can see that it is slightly less dark. In standard mode it was just as dark as matte but took only 34 seconds.
Your description sounds like an electrical problem in the print head which will require a replacement.
In the meantime, just tell your printer that you are printing on matte photo paper and it will use the small black cartridge. In fact, since you are refilling, you can continue to use your...
I believe the problem is that the black ink is used only when you tell the printer that you are printing on plain paper. It has nothing to do with what you are printing (text or graphics). Printing on CD's forces the printer to use only the color dye ink cartridges. As a test, you could tell...
Telling your printer that you are printing on photo paper will cause your color cartridge to run out very quickly so save up enough money to buy both cartridges.
Do you still get a good black nozzle check even after you get no black on plain paper?
If you do that, you spend a lot of time purging and cleaning the old ink out of the cartridges. I have plenty of old cartridges but the whole reason why I'm getting new virgin cartridges is so that I don't have to purge them, especially for the pigment black BCI-3eBk cartridges. I never had any...
Are you saying that you can take more than ten cartridges to Staples and they will apply the credit for many months in the future? Like if I give them the box of 600 cartridges, I will get an email coupon for $20 every month for the next 5 years?
Don't you also need some BCI-3eBK's? And it doesn't look like you're going to get too many magentas.
I just purchased eBay item 120808225863 which includes BCI-3eBk and had a pretty even mix of all the common types including a few Greens and Reds. The price is less than 20 cents each compared...
