MP780 not printing on "plain paper" setting

The large pigment black ink cartridge is used on plain paper which is the one that is not working now. (When you specify photo paper, it uses the thin dye ink black cartridge.) Chances are the purge system is not working for the pigment ink. (There is a separate one for the dye inks.) Here's how...

How does one become an inkjet master???

I'm not the magician. It wasn't my secret. Anyone going to the link in post #5 could figure it out. That's what I did.

How does one become an inkjet master???

It's based only on the number of posts. Two more posts and you'll be an Inkjet Guru. At 100 posts you'll achieve Inkjet Master.

    Inkjet art

What the author doesn't realize is that those printouts are of a bad nozzle check and the poor guy is just trying to generate some money so he can buy a new print head.

Dare I buy a Canon IP3000? For photo printing, refilling cartridges

I was really hoping that in terms of how dark black would print, it shouldn't matter what printer was used. I think I may just print a block of solid black on all three printers and scan them to see how they compare. I interpreted his comment in post #30 to mean that A had photo black while B...

    64-bit Windows 7 driver for MP780 doesn't recognize printer

Thanks, Mikling. Are they going to know what it means to assign a port? I'm not sure I would know.

    64-bit Windows 7 driver for MP780 doesn't recognize printer

I gave my niece and her husband an MP780 but they have 64-bit Windows 7 and the downloaded driver from Canon won't recognize the printer when it asks for it to be plugged in. It does recognize the scanner. Anyone know a workaround or fix?

Dare I buy a Canon IP3000? For photo printing, refilling cartridges

I did a test of two images on three printers: an i560, an MX700 and an iP4000. The first two have three dye ink cartridges (no photo black) while the third printer has four dye ink cartridges (including photo black). I purchased a used iP3000 which had a bad print head but uses the same one as...

    Repeated head cleaning cause problems

The nozzles do fire, at least part of the time, during cleaning cycles but I'm surprised that that very small amount of nozzle firing would overheat the print head to the point of burning it out. There is a temperature sensor in the print head for the MP780 (and I presume others) that shuts down...

    Canon ix4000 purge pads question

Yes, there probably have been many that made a false diagnosis and I was among them. If I hadn't believed that false diagnosis I wouldn't have been motivated to clean up another printer and discover that the purge system didn't behave as I expected. I still have plans to take apart another...

    Canon ix4000 purge pads question

I take it you were confused by my statement that Windex wasn't ejected during an actual head cleaning. It was late at night when I posted that comment. I fixed it. Sorry about the confusion. Was that the only part that didn't make sense?

    Canon ix4000 purge pads question

The two tubes that are closer to the front of the printer go down through the peristaltic pump and out the bottom into the "ink waste tank" which is really a bunch of ink absorber pads that go all across the bottom of the printer. The other two tubes that are closer to the rear of the printer...

Canon MX700 is dead, what printer should I look for?

That pretty much narrows it down to the MP560, if you want to get one of those used printers and if it's a good price and works perfectly. I still have an MX700 and no printers of later vintage or other brands so I really don't have any opinion on any others.

Canon MX700 is dead, what printer should I look for?

You have quite an assortment of printers there. Your MX700 was an all-in-one with ethernet capability. The closest match to that is the mp560 which also has wireless capability. It's a later model that uses a different kind of cartridge but basically refills just like the MX700 except you need a...
