Sure. The final effect is a darker or lighter print but the ways you get there are not related at all and totally different.
I can pour black ink onto paper or I can spray it with an airbrush ( Intensity ).
But sure the final "Look" is the same with either.
By the way I have never experienced...
By the OP having to reduce Intensity I hope he is saying that his PRO-100 with PC inks and ICM is laying down TOO MUCH ink and not that the PRINTS are TOO Dark which would lead to Brightness adjustments and not Ink Intensity adjustments!
That is what the Intensity adjustment is used for when...
I have been resetting ALL my CLI-42 setup carts! Not a problem. Who cares about Image Garden anyway!
What you should not do is to initiate a printer with non Setup carts or worse Compatible or Refillable carts.

The "Conditions" that have to be met to "Create" the gelling effect are so mysterious that If I new the answer I would then claim to know the secrets of the universe. Move over Michio Kaku!!
It is a perfect example of " The Perfect Storm " where EVERYTHING comes together and BAMMMM it happens...
Unless someone else has first claim to this, I like to claim the dubious honor of being the first "Victim" of the yellow problem!
Yes it occurred after the third top off of the original yellow cart.
Quick application of Windex directly dripped on to the yellow inlet of the print head followed...
Well, I'm man enough to admit I was wrong!
Guess is because I only use Photo printers and not other canon models, that the question would not have come up in my mind since I will probably never even use a printer using cli271 carts.
Joe
Only for the PRO-100!
All the videos and posts about this including info readily available at www.precisioncolors.com clearly states it only affects the OEM
CLI-42 Yellow mixing with PC CLI-42 Yellow ink.
No other ink set is affected.

Trigonal, I am in Kensington, MD. where are you located?
I'll be glad to put that printer to good use if you still have it. $20 is way to cheap though!

If that is what I think I am seeing, that is the original factory cart fill ball?
Be aware that that ball does not achieve a 100% seal. The 100% seal is reached ONLY after the cart label is applied over the top of the cart. Have you noticed just how tough that label is to remove??? That is what...
You read my mind!!!! And since I actually am running all three printers on OEM inks that will be a great comparison.
I have a couple of great color and monochrome images that I will print on Pro Luster to A3+ on all three of these printers. I will use the same basic color managed settings for...
If you have Photoshop or Lightroom you can use Canon Print Studio Pro plugin and use Pattern Print and do the same exact thing.
You method is also perfectly good and you get the same results in the end.

OK yes I did have it had read it. My Ink levels are about 1/3 from empty and maintenance cart displays about just over 1/3 fill.
I had three spare maintenance carts I bought prior so that's covered. Now I have to find a good sale on an ink set.
Joe
It went without a hitch except for the glitch with one of my cameras but all in all...... Damn, what a printer!!
