Unable to find new print head for Pro9000 MK2

I haven't had that much experience with chipped carts, but I've seen posts that chips can eventually go bad. Remember - they are designed for one use. If you've reset them and they don't hold their reset you may have to buy a new OEM cart. You might also check around to see if anyone you know...

    FLUSHING....WHY?

My habit has been to check all carts when one shows low or empty. I then replace not only the low or empty cart but others that are somewhat low as well. What I want to avoid is the scenario in which I would replace one cart, have the printer automatically run the cleaning routine (in which...

any thoughts on paying $115 for 8 year old printer technology ?

Ahhhh - the proof that, at least with these printers, the good old days WERE the good old days!

Precision Color Ink rubbing off! Need help urgently! :|

about the ink not drying completely - I don't know about your printer, but I've had printers that have a setting that slows down the printing of the next page to compensate for slower drying ink. Of course, it won't help if it takes an hour for prints to dry enough to avoid ink from rubbing...

Just don't believe the advertising phrase - "the new, IMPROVED ------------" Sometimes it is true but this time it's not!!!

Sealing the refill hole BCI-6 BCI-3

No pigment based printers for me either, although I do have several five-cart Canons that have the one black pigment-based cart. I suspect that an important issue with flow problems in the bci-3eBK carts would be the difficulty in disolving the pigment residue when a purge is necessary.

Sealing the refill hole BCI-6 BCI-3

Same as my experience. The whole tecnique of refilling the older Canon carts - BCI-6 or newer - can be reduced to very simple steps. my feeling is the one should not "over-think" the process. Just follow the Kiss principle which literally translates to "Keep It Simple Stupid!" (Stupid, by the...

Sealing the refill hole BCI-6 BCI-3

Before anyone had mentioned a problem with saturating the upper sponge (bci-6 and later versions) I found no problem with ink flow with both sponges saturated. I now watch to avoid filling to the point where the space above the upper sponge has ink in it, but saturating the upper sponge hasn't...

[worklog] Diy Piezography Epson 6 color

Andrew - I do appreciate experimentation. Without many people having tinkered with printers and their cartridges we would still be buying OEM carts and tossing the empties into landfill. Without precision instruments I expect that translating OEM colored inks into equivalent tones of black and...

Appropriate beverages would be home brew beer and home made red wine, In refilled wine and beer bottles, of course. That pretty well covers Magenta and Yellow. Any cocktail made with blue curacao followed by black coffee will round out the basic four colors of the Printerknowledge Forum flag...

[worklog] Diy Piezography Epson 6 color

granted that we are a forum of experimenters, have you checked out any of the vendors that sell B/W ink sets for Epson printers? I used to buy my refill inks from MIS before I found Precision Colors. I remember that MIS had B/W ink sets for four color Epsons that could be purchased with...

    Fill with squeeze bottles

The Hat - you'd have your choice --- be a blue-blood or a red-blooded picture of manhood! Just stay away from the yellow - not a good look as people tend to stay away from jaundiced dudes.

    Fill with squeeze bottles

Vents in the sheath covering medical disposable needles would risk contamination of the sterile needle. I can understand a vent required for a pen cap - it is not unusual to see a person put the end of a pen or pencil in his/her mouth and even bite on it. That would be a reasonable fear as...

    Fill with squeeze bottles

The medical disposable needles I've are protected by a very tight fit between the hub and the base of the sheath. they are sterile and are most probably fully sealed without vents. I use the sheath as a cover, but I don't snap it into place - it just rests on the needle hub and luerlock bottle...

    Fill with squeeze bottles

Pearlhouse - you quoted the first paragraph of my post. The second paragraph dealt with clearing the ink out of the needle without rinsing. "I also keep the squeeze bottle vertical with the paper towel around the tip of the needle and squeeze air in and out of the bottle to clear the inside...

What are the dangers of using expired ink?

Refill ink vendors generally advertise a two year shelf life. I try to order enough to last no more than two years but it is difficult to estimate. The urge is to buy larger amounts for the financial savings, but there is such a savings, even with smaller quantities, that I'd rather stay on...
