The PK ConeColor Ink arrived this morning along with a refillable cartridge.
The bottle contains 220ml of Photo Black encapsulated pigment ink.
According to John Cone. it's the encapsulation that makes this brand stand out from the rest as the encapsulation prevents the pigments from...
This is my only concern. I used to run an ink business back in 1995, competition was tough then and the internet was in its infancy so you can imagine what its like now. The Cone Inks to me are aimed at a niche market mainly targeting people who perform high volume prints.
Some market research...
I have been approached and asked if I would like to be a UK reseller for ConeColor inks.
The proposal which I have received seems very fair and straightforward,
My only concern at this time is if there is a UK market out there willing to change from their current inks over to Cone Color.
Any...
Well my Cone Ink and cart order has been dispatched and is making its way over her to the UK. I am quite looking forward to testing the whole procedure of filling ink carts and also trying the Cone branded inks. Onwards and Upwards as they say
99% of the work I do is Black and White. I also offer tuition on Post Printing in both Lightroom and Photoshop and also advice on how to achieve a technical correct print, notice I said technical and not correct :)

Thanks Andrew, your support has been very valuable in this discussion.
I was initially unsure about the quality of the refill carts and whether not having the ink in a sealed internal bag would introduce any long term issues. Although I guess this is possible, no one has actually come forward...

I buy Cone Refill Carts - My OEM chips can be empty

Here we are the next morning after the big strip down. I left some paper towel soaked in windex under the head overnight and it was saturated with black ink this morning, not sure if this is a good or bad sign.
I did a nozzle check and all is clear, so I decided to run some 6x4 test prints...
*** UPDATE ***
I have just spent the best part of 2 hours stripping the printer down right the way to locating the ink switching lever, motor and dampers.
Everything looks spotless and clean, no ink spatter, nothing. The ink change motor is a worm drive motor which operates a cam, which in...
A very nice conversion and control of tones. The only critique I have and this is nothing serious, there appears to be some data missing in the upper 3/4 highlights as seen by the saw tooth pattern in the histogram. This may be due to the white vignette you have applied.
If all your...
