RE: chipped carts for ip4300, ip4500...
Remove carts ONLY WITH POWER OFF (to prevent any possible recordkeeping of number of times carts are removed)
I think that Trigger37's suggestion that when we remove carts, do so with power off, is a good one, and doesn't seem like it can hurt...
Defcon2,
Just a note to again express my appreciation to you for sharing this German Durchstich refill method with everyone on this forum, (and for posting videos no less!).
It seems like a great method.
And thanks too to Pharmacist for the great photos that started this thread on page 1...
Kitty,
Here is a link I saved for how to reset EEprom values for the ip4300, that was posted in this forum by Smile:

Try to enter service mode and reset EEPROM:

KittyMarmalade,
Before you go out and purchase another OEM set of cartridges, perhaps it might be worth trying one of your refilled sets in someone else's ip4300 to see if it gives the same error message, or not. That might say whether the problem was with the chips on the carts, or with your...

Grandad,
Can you clarify whether "back flush" is referring to water entering the exit port and exiting via a fill hole over the spongeless chamber and the vent hole above the sponge, or visa-versa?
Which direction are you saying seems better to you?
And Steve, wondering if you might be able...
Another thing that I did on a past HP inkjet printer that had date expiration dates was to set the date back to one year earlier.
This allowed the printer to print because it thought the expired cartridge date was not expired.
I learned this work-around from someone else.
headphonesman,
Could you say what you used as the cleaning solution?
Also wondering if you had the ability to post some photos of your "pump" from the syringe.
Thanks so much for your post.
I don't know if this would help, but,
the following Druckerchannel.de page is about replacing the sponges on the "waste tank full" message,
but includes some great close up photos of printer disassembly, spread out over it's various pages.

I just noticed that Druckerchannel.de has instructions for replacing sponges when the "Waste Tank Full" message appears.
Includes close up photos.
Might want to save this link: (English version)

Websnail,
I don't have a CIS, but I think your idea is a good one.
I think it would be good also for refilling supplies: screws with "O" rings, tubing, etc...
Sorry more haven't replied yet... maybe more still will.
Best wishes,

Hello,
I live in the US and I have 2 ip4300 printers.
The first was bought in Dec 2006 and is the one I am using now.
It has the ink monitor disabling instructions both on p29 and p84 of the quick start manual.
I have just disabled the first cart successfully per the instructions... the others...
Pharmicist,
Thanks for sharing this ...
I'm not sure I understand why having water in the empty reservoir helps reduce the pressure in the sponge chamber...
It seemed to me that the pressure buildup everywhere in the cart would be related only to the rate of the water coming in,
and the total...
Hi all,
It seems to me that for people using the German Refill method --- if you have to subsequently do a purge of that cart, it might not be necessary to make an additional hole for water to exit. The water may exit through the vent hole above the sponge, as well as the 2 mm hole we made in...
