Thanks for your reply.
I tried switching to another pgi-5 cartridge that I had refilled and still no pgi-5 in nozzle test.
When I had refilled the empty pgi-5, I did my usual nozzle check, and saw all the color bars solid, so assumed that all was ok.
However, unfortunately, I did not notice that...
What I did to keep the chip from getting very wet was to take a piece of masking tape, and then take a smaller piece of scotch tape, and place the scotch tape adhesive side onto the masking tape adhesive side so that the smooth adhesive-free side of the scotch tape would go against the chip when...
Hi all,
I have been refilling for a while without problems.
My pgi5 cart on my ip4300 was still printing, but when I checked, the reservoir was completely empty.
I refilled but when I printed out the nozzle check the pgi5 section is completely missing.
Can you please outline steps I should...
tgame,
Can you please explain exactly how this resetter works?
The ebay page seems confusing.
Are the chip extenders only for resetting non-OEM carts?
So did you just buy the first item (the resetter) without the extenders?
I'd appreciate your explaining more how you used it, and also if you...
Hi retfeg,
I have been using the german method without problems. See the 2 links at the footer of this post for great resources showing it in great detail. I follow beatlenut's suggestion to use a push pin to make the hole. It makes just the right size hole. Push it in all the way then...
Smile,
I can see how this is true for cartridges in use, but I just got a bunch of used dried out OEM carts.
Seems like they need to be purged, regardless of how they are going to be filled, no?
But I am still thinking about getting a hand vacuum pump to have on hand.
I saw a hand vacuum pump...
I think that Kittymarmalade reported that buying one new canon cart freed up the error locking...
Correct me if I'm wrong, Kittymarmalade.
Or you can try to email her from one of her posts.
Just thought I would let you know, defcon2k...
I just filled 4 cartridges that had been purged and which had very dry sponges, and which had no hole on top of the spongeless reservoir by using the german refill method.
I could not push the syringe against the small german refill method hole...
Defcon2k,
I had seen your video before, but it helped reviewing it again.
I can see how you were able to push the ink into the sponge with the syringe.
Was the sponge completely dry in your video?
Your post really helps clarify...
(however, I was not able to load the PNG image from the...
Defcon2,
I recently purged 10 cartridges that someone gave me. This was the first time I purged carts.
All seemed to work well. Because I am using the german refill method (which I learned from you), I preferred not to make a hole over the reservoir for purging, which could be a potential...
Fish,
I found it very hard not to get water on the chip, no matter how hard I tried.
If it does get wet, it seems like one should let it thoroughly dry before using the cart.
So I decided to find a way to cover the chip for the next time.
But it did not seem like a good idea to put any tape...
Tin Ho,
Thanks for your reply and the tissue paper ball way to wick moisture from the exit port.
How much time do you let pass with carts drying before refilling after a purge. Days? Just a few hours?
I can still see some moisture droplets in spongeless reservoir. Wait till they're gone?
And...
Stratman,
Thanks for your reply.
I just purged a bunch of carts for my first time, I think successfully.
Thank you to Pharmacist, who suggested filling the spongeless chamber with distilled water before beginning the purge, saving having to make any additional holes. (Actually, I have whole...
FYI:
I noticed that the optimal needle length for using the Durchstich refill method seems to be 50 mm (a little less than 2 inches).
This length allows you to push the needle fully in until the plastic base of the needle stops further entry, and this leaves the needle tip just short of...
CartersPoppie (& Smile),
Thank you so much for posting & supporting the petition http://www.keeprefillingalive.com/ in support of the very idea of refilling as an environmental sustainability issue.
It's so sad that all that engineering brainpower (on part of manufacturers) goes into...
Hi folks,
I have an canon ip4300, and I found someone who is going to give me a bunch of used OEM CLI-8/PGI-5 carts from their printer, which I would like to purge and refill.
I believe the answer is no, but the chips don't record what printer they were used in, do they?
I.E. any reason to...
