I have an Epson XP-820. I have been using ink from Precision Colors. My black color print head is clogged, tried head cleaning many times but to no avail. Is there a manual or tutorial on how to clean print heads?

It appears to be defective, that white plastic is supposedly be able move up and down to lock and unlock the printer head in place.

Just bought this from ebay from a liquidator, I get Printer error 0xEA. I noticed a white plastic is preventing the printer head from moving. Do I need to remove this white plastic and how? If not, then is this printer defective?

I purchased a WIC reset key. Need to buy a tube extension for my older printer potty to fit the XP800.

Any free program? Is it better to send in to Epson for service or install printer potty and buy reset key from WIC Reset Utility?

Problem with buying used printer is how long before the print head becomes clogged and unusable since there is no easy way to clean a print head nozzle.

I already purchased xp-800 with cis from amazon. I found youtube videos showing how to install them and they show it works. I will report back when I get the items.

Are you saying its not a good idea to buy the xp-800? How about the xp-600? Can someone recommend a recent release printer model that can print CD/DVD and is CIS friendly? BTW the artisan 50 lasted me 3 years, is that a good run? I was hoping for 5 years. I should have purchased 2 of these...

Windex didn't work. I'm buying a XP-800 with CIS.

The lines missing from the nozzle check test are always the same. I will try some of the methods suggested here.

I guess we can test your theory by replacing the CIS with OEM carts and see the nozzle check printout. CIS ink are low quality so it causes many clogs unfortunately.
